The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Black MBA Association re-launched its Leaders Of Tomorrow (LOT) program in the Fall of 2009. With nine very engaged high school students from Orange County, the LOT adventure began! The ten month program included curriculum that emphasized community service, finance & budgeting skills, leadership and character development.
The program concluded with a festive year end reception on Sunday, June 6th for LOT students, parents and Chapter leadership. “One of the highlights of the reception was when Mr. David and Mrs. Britta shared something special about each of us and what we contributed to and/or learned from LOT as they gave us our yearbooks,” said Jordan Uter, rising Junior.
Another highlight of the reception was the recognition of our two college bound seniors for their unwavering participation, consistent demonstration of leadership skills and academic accomplishments.
The LOT students agreed that they had created a treasured community. “We started in October with some trepidation and uncertainty about each other and what we would learn through LOT, but soon we came together and worked hard to apply the concepts that were shared with us” said Nkem, rising Senior. In the Fall of 2010, the Orange County LOT program will resume as well as the launch of an L.A. based LOT program. We look forward to creating other treasured communities!
